PIERRE, S.D. – The 10th annual Pierre Youth Girls Basketball Tournament was held Saturday, January, 19th. The Pierre Lady Govs downed Wall 27-17 to win the 4th grade division. The Pierre Swish downed Sully Buttes 20-18 in overtime in the 5th grade division championship and Huron downed Wall 30-26 to win the 6th grade division. Nearly 200 young athletes competed on teams from Sully Buttes, Huron, Wall, Spearfish, Stanley County, Philip, Gettysburg, and Pierre. The tournament is a fundraising event for the Pierre Lady Govs basketball program and is sponsored by First National Bank and Beck Motors. Tournament director Dan Lusk said, “There were many competitive games played throughout the day and it was great to see these young athletes get some quality court time right here in Pierre.”
