PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Trappers are above the .500 mark for the first time this year as they completed a 3 game sweep of the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks with a 13-1 victory Sunday at Hyde Stadium. A 6 run third inning was the big inning for the Trappers in the game who outhit Wheat City 11-4. Zane Phelps hit his 5th home run of the season for the Trappers while Sam Kalberer hit his first of the season. Those two also doubled in teh game and Billy Moreland tripled. Nate Piazza had 3 RBI’s in the contest as well. Jackson Back pitched the first 7 innings to record the win as he did not allow a run and only two hits while striking out 7. Alex Sheets and Nate Altermatt each pitched an inning of relief as the Trappers improve to 17-16 on the season and their winning streak is now at 6 straight game. The Trappers go on the road to begin a series in Aberdeen tonight against the Hub City Hot Shots. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.
