BRADENTON, Manitoba – The Pierre Trappers won both ends of a doubleheader on Sunday in Bradenton, Manitoba with a pair of shutouts. Pierre downed the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks 4-0 in the first game and then recorded a resounding 10-0 shutout in the second game. In the opener, Jackson Back pitched a 6 innning 6 hit shut out striking out 6. Micheal Herrera and Nikko Piazza each had a pair of hits as the Trappers outhit the Whiskey Jacks 7-6. In the nightcap, Kyle Nordbye fired a complete game 2 hit shutout and the Trappers erupted for 14 hits with Zane Phelps and Tyler Ranel each homering for Pierre. Phelps long ball was one of four hits on the day and 3 RBI’s. With the sweep, the Trappers improve to 6 and 9 on the season and have a day off today. They will open a 3 game series in Dickinson, N.D. against the Badlands Big Sticks tomorrow (Tuesday).
