PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team suffered a doubleheader setback Wednesday in Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls East downed Post 8 twice by scores of 9-3 and 17-8 to send Pierre to it’s first losing skid of the season. In the opener, SF East outhit Pierre 12-7 and put the game away with a 5 run 4th inning. Aaron Booth started and took the loss for Pierre going 5.1 innings allwoing all 9 runs. Maguire Raske had a pair of hits and a RBI for Post 8. In the nightcap, Post 8 scored 3 in the first only to see SF East score 7 in the bottom half of the inning and never look back. SF East pounded Pierre pitching for 20 hits with Mtchell Tolk getting 4 of those and 4 RBI’s Pierre had 10 hits. Coby Carr pitched the first 3 innings allowing 8 runs in taking the loss. The doubleheader sweep leaves Pierre with a 2 game skid losing 3 of their last 4 and a 4-4 record on the season as they host the Border Battle with Mandan and Bismarck, N.D. Friday and Saturday at Hyde Stadium.
