A public hearing on the proposed Walworth County solar farm setback ordinances was held in the Walworth County Courthouse courtroom on Wednesday, February 7th. Five people opposed to the ordinance spoke first, followed by nine people in favor.
Attorney Mitch Peterson of Sioux Falls, representing several landowners concerned about solar in the area, said the majority of the residents in the county do not want this solar farm.
Peterson said there is nothing unconstitutional about the proposed setback ordinances.
Peterson encouraged the commissioners to continue to listen to the residents of the county and keep the ordinances as currently written.
The public hearing concluded with approval of a motion to move the proposed setback ordinances to the commission, who will visit with their state’s attorney for recommendations moving forward.
