PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor Gymnastics team finished 6th our of 8 teams in the team competition of the Class AA State Gymnastics meet held Friday (Feb. 9, 2024) at Riggs High Gym in Pierre. The Governors scored 137.811. Mitchell won the team title with a 151.44 edging our runner up Harrisburg who scored 149.995. Sioux Falls O’Gorman was third with a 140.512 while Watertown was fourth with 140.495. Fifth place went to Brookings with 139.380 followed by Pierre. Yankton had a 7th place finish 130.809 and Aberdeen rounded out the 8 team field with a 132.379.

The Class A State Championship was won by Estelline/Hendricks who scored a 142.596 team score. Madison was second with a 138.911 and Hot Springs finished third with a 136.461. Britton/Hecla edged out Park/Ethan/Hanson/Mt. Vernon for 4th place 134.794 to 134.730. Deuel was 6th in the team standings with a 132.212 followed by Chamberlain in 7th place with a 130.427 team scored and Vermillion wo finished 8th with a 127.127 score.

The individual state championships will be decided today (Feb. 10, 2024) at Riggs High Gym. This is the first SDHSAA Indoor State Championship ever hosted by the Governors.
