ABERDEEN, S.D – The Oahe Capitals and Aberdeen Cougars boys hockey teams battled on the ice Sunday (Feb. 11, 2024) in Aberdeen and in the end the Capitals and Cougars played to a 3-3 tie.
The Capitals outshot the Cougars 44-31 in the contest and battled back from a 3-1 deficit to take 1 point out of the game.
The Capitals scored the final 3 goals of the game in the 3rd period to earn the tie as Dylan Dozark, Aidan Dozark and Keegan Kitts all scored with Kitts goal at 13:28 of the third period being the game tying goal on assists from Aiden Dozark and Barrett Schweitzer.
Capital net-minder Spencer Anderson turned aside 29 shots on goal as Oahe’s league record went to 9-5-2 but with the point gained in the tie moved the Capitals to 20 points and tied with Mitchell for fourth place in the league standings.
The Capitals are on the road for their next league game Friday night when they travel to Rapid City to face Rushmore.

In the girls contest, the Aberdeen Cougars skated past the Oahe Capitals 4-1.
Brylee Kafka netted the lone goal in the game for Oahe at 11:29 of the first period on an assist from Kristen Miller that tied the game at 1. But Aberdeen added a goal before intermission and scored two more in the second period for the final outcome.
Aberdeen outshot the Capital Girls 27-21 in the game as Oahe fell to 8-5-1 in league play and remained solely in 4th place in the league standings with 17 points.
