PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 Junior Legion Baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader on Tuesday in Pierre to Rapid City Post 22 Expos by scores of 12-7 and 11-7. In the opener, Elliot Leif had 4 of Pierre’s 13 hits in the game but Pierre committed 4 errors in the contest. Isaac Polak and James Mikkonen combined for 6 innings on the mound as the Expo’s had 11 hits in the contest. Rapid City scored runs in 5 of the 7 innings. In the nightcap, the Post 8 Junior Legion outhit Rapid City 15-10 but could not overcome a 5 run first inning as the Expo’s scored runs in 6 of the innings. Polak led the way offensively for Pierre with 3 hits and Aaron Booth drove in pair of runs. Collin Bruggeman started on the mound and went 5.1 innings in taking the loss. With the doubleheader setback the Pierre JV’s record falls to 9 and 19 on the season as they take today off and then travel to Rapid City to face the Rapid City Post 320 Shooters in a doubleheader tomorrow (Thursday).
