PIERRE, S.D. – The Oahe Capitals Varsity boys hockey team split a pair of games over the weekend. On Friday they fell 4-2 to Mandan, North Dakota in a non league game at the EXPO Center. On Sunday, the Capitals got back into the win column with an 11-3 victory over Yankton. It was the second time in a week that Oahe had beaten Yankton as they downed them 12-3 last Sunday. The Capitals scored the first 6 goals of the game as the offense flowed freely once again. Caden Davis led the offensive attack of the Capitals by scoring a hat trick in the game. Adam Ankrum, Clay Ambach Jaden Flor and Spencer Wedin each netted a pair of goals apiece. The Capitals outshot the Bucks 48-25 in the game while goaltender Kieran Duffy turned aside 22 shots. The Capitals however did spend time in the penalty box as they had a total of 19 minutes in penalties in the game compared to just 6 for Yankton. Oahe is 2-0-0 in league play and 6-6-0 overall on the season. The Capitals will travel to Huron to face the All Stars on Friday.

BROOKINGS, S.D. -Following their first win of the season over Huron on Saturday, the Oahe Capitals girls varsity hockey team ventured on the road for the first time this seasosn and came up short as the dropped a 6-2 verdict to the Brookings Rangers Sunday. Oahe scored both of their goals in the first period as Jessa McTighe scored at the 7 minute mark to tie the game at 1 and Sara Bierne scored at the 15:58 mark of the first period to tied the game at two. Brookings scored once in the second period and put the game away with 3 unanswered goals in the thrid period. The Rangers outshot the Capitals 30-20 in the game as Capital goaltender Abagail Stewart-Fromm turned aside 24 shots. The Capitals girls are 1-2-0 in league play and host the Aberdeen Cougars next Saturday at the EXPO Center.
