PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Athletic Coaches Association (PACA) has named the latest Avera Riggs High School Athletes of the Week. This week the honorees are River Iverson of the Governors Football Team and Morgan Odekoven of the Governor Girls Cross Country Team. Governor head coach Steve Steele says that Iverson has been the staple of consistency for the Gov defense throughout the season. He has consistently been the leading tackler and was so again against Brookings Friday recording 8 tackles with 3 of them going for a loss. Coach Steele also says He is also a big part of the offensive success the Governors have had as he works hard to give the offense a great look during the week and making them better. Meanwhile, Governor head cross country coach Jim Keyes says that Odekoven had a fantastic race at the ESD cross country meet. Morgan placed 18th out of 66 runners and looked great doing it. Last year in the conference Morgan placed 56th.
