The South Dakota Soybean Checkoff, in collaboration with South Dakota Ag and Rural Leadership, is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the SD Soybean Genesis Leadership Program that’s developing leaders within the soybean industry. The program, funded by the South Dakota Soybean Checkoff, was designed to equip farmers and agriculture industry professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in leadership roles in community, business, organizations, on farm, and beyond.
The 2024 program consisted of four comprehensive sessions: Soybean Industry Overview in Sioux Falls, the Legislative Process in Pierre, Innovation and Forward Focus in Brookings, and Leadership Readiness in Watertown. Participants who applied and were selected cover a broad spectrum of the agriculture industry. Among them is new a newly elected SD Soybean Research and Promotion Council board director and farmer from the Mitchell area, Bruce Haines.
“Participating in the SD Soybean Genesis Leadership Program has been an invaluable learning opportunity for myself as a new board director,” said Bruce Haines, Mitchell area farmer and recently elected member of the Checkoff board of directors. “The Genesis Leaders Program provided insights and skills crucial for effective leadership in the soybean industry, and I’m excited to apply this knowledge to my role on the Checkoff board.”
