MITCHELL, S.D. – Kylee Thorpe sank a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to give the Pierre Governor girls basketball team a 60-59 win over the Mitchell Kernels at the Corn Place in Mitchell on Tuesday night. Thorpe finished with 21 points to pace the Governor scorings in the game. It was a sloppy game with a total of 37 fouls and 46 free throws shot in the contest. The Governors were 19 of 25 from the free throw line in the contest. Haly Hohn had 22 points to pace the Kernel scoring as Mitchell had a 3 game winning streak snapped the Governors ended a two game losing skid. The Governors outscored the Kernels by 8 points at the free throw line. Pierre improved to 7-8 on the season as they return to action Thursday hosting Sioux Falls Washington.
