YANKTON, S.D. – The Pierre Governors trailed by only four at the half but Yankton put the game away by outscoring the Governors by 20 in the third quarter and went on to record a 83-56 win over the Governors Saturday in Yankton Yankton led by 13 at the end of the first quarter before Pierre outscored the Bucks 24-15 in the second quarter to make the halftime score 40-36. But Pierre hit a field goal drought in the third period and were outscored 24-4 as Yankton pulled away for the win. Matt Mors led the way for Yankton with 29 points and Cooper Cornemann had 27. Aiden Feser chipped in with 10. The Governors had a pair of double figure scorers with freshman Lincoln Kienholz scoring 18 points and Grey Zabel added 12. Pierre shot 45 percent from the field but Yankton countered with 62 percent shooting and 60 percent from 3 point range. Yankton improved to 11-2 on the season while the Governors fall to 1 and 14. Pierre will entertain Mitchell Tuesday night.
