This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone: Tenacious D is putting “all future plans” on hold, after Kyle Gass expressed his hope that the next shooter not miss Donald Trump.
It happened during a show in Australia on Sunday. So their tour of Australia and New Zealand is over now . . . and so is the band’s Rock the Vote tour of college campuses that was supposed to go down in October.
In an Instagram post, Jack Black said he was BLINDSIDED by what Kyle said. He added, quote, “I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.
“After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”
Kyle issued a statement of his own, saying, quote, “The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone.”
He added, quote, “What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”
FYI, Kyle was also dropped by his agent.
