The US Women’s soccer team advanced to the semi-finals this morning after a 1-0, extra-time victory over Japan.
In a dead-locked match that required 30 extra minutes, it was American Trinity Rodman who scored a top-shelf deciding goal in the 107th minute that would propel the US into the next round. Rodman had her fingerprints all over this win as she was the most active player on the field for the entirety of the match. With halftime of extra-time approaching, Rodman weaved her way into Japan territory and placed a perfect shot that would prove to be the game-winner.
The US will wait to face either Canada or Germany on August 6th for a chance to play for the gold medal.
