A motorcyclist and his passenger suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries in a collision with a car Thursday afternoon (Aug. 1, 2024, 1:25pm) in Pierre.
The names of the people involved have not been released.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the driver and passenger on a 2022 Harley Davidson was westbound on US Highway 14. The driver of a 2004 Ford Taurus was traveling eastbound on US 14, intending to turn northbound onto SD Highway 1804. The Ford collided with the motorcycle, separating the driver and passenger from the motorcycle. They were not wearing helmets.
The 17 year old female driver of the Ford was uninjured. The two people on the motorcycle, a 59 year old male driver and a 55 year old female passenger, were taken to the Pierre hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
