ESPN has let go two of their football analysts, Sam Ponder & Robert Griffin III, according to reports of those close to the media giant. Griffin had two more years on his deal, the source said.
The 34-year-old Griffin, a Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback, joined ESPN in 2021. He was featured regularly but was set to be replaced by recently retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce on “Monday Night Countdown” this upcoming season.
Ponder, who has been with ESPN since 2011, has most recently hosted “NFL Sunday Countdown.”
The firings come after an interesting exchange between SEC mainstay Paul Finebaum and Griffin occurred on ESPN and then moved to X. S0me people are saying the two are connected, however, no one can be completely sure.
