PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Athletic Coaches Association has named it’s Avera Riggs High School Athletes of the Week. Morkeia Mutchelknaus of the Governor volleyball team and Carsten Miller of the Governor football and soccer teams earned the honor from PACA. Mutchelknaus is the captain of the Governor Junior Varsity team as well as a member of the Governor varsity volleyball squad. She has lead the JV’s team in passing and serving and is a huge asset to this team in both the front and back row according to Governor head coach Kacy Kienholz. For varsity, coach Kienholz says that Morkeia is serving 100% and comes in to replace starters without getting rattled. She knows her place on the court and routinely does her job. Miller meanwhile had a great week! He scored a hat trick against Mitchell last week with all 3 goals coming in the span of 13 minutes. All three goals were very impressive. He jump started the offense that had been struggling and helped the team come away with a much needed win according to soccer head coach Matt DeBoer.
