The last redistricting map developed in the state took a small part of Hughes County and put it into District 26 instead of District 24, which is what the rest of the county is in.
Hughes County Finance Officer Thomas Oliva says technology will ensure the residents in District 26 get the correct general election ballot Tuesday (Nov. 5, 2024).
Oliva says there’s been a steady flow of absentee voters coming through the courthouse.
Hughes County uses vote centers which allow people to vote at any of the polling locations rather than having to go to an assigned precinct. The vote center locations are:
- Faith Lutheran Church, Pierre
- New Life Assembly of God Church, Pierre
- Capitol Lake Visitors Center, Pierre
- Blunt City Hall, Blunt
- Harrold City Auditorium, Harrold
Hughes County polling locations will be open 7am-7pm CT. Remember to bring a photo ID with you to vote.
You can find voter information on the South Dakota Secretary of State’s website.
