The top election official in South Dakota says that as of mid-day today (Nov. 5, 2024), voting in the general election is going smoothly.
Secretary of State Monae Johnson says the pace has been “very steady.” She says her office has been handling a “high volume of questions on topics like voting locations and state election laws, and we’re in close contact with county auditors who, along with their election workers, are doing an outstanding job fielding and addressing questions from voters.”
Johnson encourages anyone with concerns to speak directly with an election worker at their polling place or to promptly contact their county auditor. She says the workers are “fully engaged to support a smooth election process, and we appreciate everyone’s patience and respect for election workers on this important day.”
