District 24 Senator Jim Mehlhaff of Pierre has been elected at the republican party leader in that legislative chamber for the 2025-26 Legislative term.
The newly-elected Senate Republican caucus met Friday (Nov. 8, 2024) to determine legislative leadership. Others elected to majority leadership positions in the Senate are:
- Majority Leader: Jim Mehlhaff
- Assistant Majority Leader: Carl Perry
- Majority Whip: Randy Deibert
- Majority Whip: Kevin Jensen
- Majority Whip: Sue Peterson
- Majority Whip: Tom Pischke
Chris Karr is the GOP nominee for the position of President Pro Tempore, which will be voted on by the full Senate when it organizes Jan. 14, 2025.
