A 7-year-old girl was injured Tuesday morning (Nov. 19, 2024) when she was struck outside a Watertown elementary school.
Police Sergeant Matt Hegg says it happened just before 8 a.m. outside Mellette Elementary.
A woman driving a small SUV had just dropped her own child off at school and was exiting the area when she struck the girl.
Hegg says the girl’s father was walking with her, and took her to the hospital before police arrived.
The girl sustained scrapes and bruises, and was treated and released from the hospital.
Hegg says the driver of the SUV is being cited for Careless Driving.
