The Pierre Volunteer Fire Department was called to two different businesses Monday (Nov. 25, 2024) after smoke was reported from each location.
Fire Chief Ian Paul says the first fire call was at Mojo’s Coffee at around 7:30am.
Most of the surrounding structures were not affected, but Paul says there was light smoke damage in one space.
The second fire call was to Big Tom’s Diner along Sioux Avenue. Paul says that alert came around 8am.
Paul says the smoke came from food in an oven.
As folks gather for the various upcoming holiday occasions, Paul reminds people to not leave food unattended if it’s still cooking.
