Do you ever show up to work and think to yourself, “What am I even doing here?” And do you mean that . . . LITERALLY?
There’s a Gallup poll out on Americans in the workplace, and it found that just 46% of employees “clearly know what is expected of them at work.”
One problem is engagement. Only 31% of employees reported feeling engaged at work, which is a 10-year low, and 17% are ACTIVELY disengaged.
Even though things have been trending downward, those numbers aren’t too different than usual. Throughout the 2010s, engagement improved every year, before peaking at 36% in 2020.
So WHY don’t we feel engaged?
Only 39% of employees feel strongly that someone at work cares about them, which is a drop from 47% in 2020. And only 30% strongly agree that someone at work encourages their development, down from 36% in 2020.
