A graduation ceremony was held Friday (March 7, 2025) in Pierre for 45 recruits finishing South Dakota’s Basic Law Enforcement Training Program.
The recruits represent 24 different Tribal, state and local law enforcement agencies. They completed the 13 weeks of course work required to become fully qualified law enforcement officers in South Dakota.
Graduates complete course work that includes instruction in the law, arrest control tactics, firearms, vehicle handling and criminal investigations. The training program is taught by full-time staff from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and adjunct instructors from law enforcement agencies across the state.
