Pierre residential utility customers get coupons to take a free load to the solid waste facility

The City of Pierre has issued residential utility customers a coupon to dump a free or discounted fee load at the city solid waste facility.

City Commissioner Jamie Huizenga says the paper coupons were sent with the March utility bills. He says residential customers who receive their utility bills electronically are also able to dump one free load.

The free or discounted fee coupons are valid through November 2025 and are intended for big items. Customers should continue to use garbage collection services for household waste.

The Pierre Solid Waste Department also offers recycling programs for paint, bicycles, household chemicals, electronics and light bulbs, as well as selling crushed asphalt and yard compost.
