South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley was one of seven Attorneys General who met with President Donald Trump and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi in Washington, D.C. last week (March 14, 2025) to highlight federal efforts to stop violent crime and the influx of fentanyl into the United States.
Jackley said 18.2 pounds of fentanyl were seized in the state last year– enough to cause the death of every South Dakotan 4 to 5 times over. He said the Attorney General’s Office will continue to aggressively prosecute fentanyl offenders, especially dealers, while also assisting organizations that help with prevention and treatment efforts.
