HUMBOLDT – Post 8 lost twice Saturday to be eliminated from the New Dakota Classic, 5-4 to West Central Humboldt-Hartford and 9-1 to Sioux Falls East.
Post 8 had tied the game against West Central in the top of the seventh inning on a pinch-hit sacrifice fly by Cobey Carr, but West Central’s Noah Hohn walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to win the game. Cade Hinkle hit a two-run double and Maguire Raske had an RBI double for Post 8.
Against Sioux Falls East, the Eights scored in the top of the first inning on a wild pitch, but East then scored four in the first, a run in the second, and four more in the fourth.
Post 8 is now 19-12 and will return to Eastern South Dakota Tuesday for a doubleheader with Harrisburg.
