The Govs took two from Huron today, and it didn’t come without a little drama in the end of the second game. The Govs led for most of the game 2-0 before Huron tied it up late. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Pierre worked two runners onto first and second. Carter Schiefelbein, with a full swing, caught a pitch just off the end of the bat to sending a dribbler that danced along the first base line. A wild throw from Tommy Martin would bring home Aydan Johnson, the winning run to secure the two-game sweep from the tigers.
The Govs finished with 6 hits and one RBI, Carter Schiefelbien, Dawson Getz, Trevor Rounds and two hits from Cooper Terwilliger, including the final hit that started the 7th inning rally for the Govs. The Govs now look ahead to another doubleheader on Friday afternoon on the road at Brookings. The first game will get underway at 5:00 PM.
