PIERRE – The Pierre Trappers overcame a 5-0 deficit Sunday and topped the Fremont Moo 7-6 at Hyde Stadium. Nick Grossman hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to break a 6-6 tie.
After starter Jackson Uner struggled, allowing six runs in three innings, AJ Fell (1-1) pitched six dominant innings in relief for the win, striking out 10 and not walking a batter while allowing only three hits.
Fremont scored five runs in the second to take the early lead, but the Trappers scored four in their half of the second on RBI singles by Billy Moreland, Niko Piazza and Noah Berghammer, followed by an RBI fielder’s choice by Tavian Josenberger. The Moo scored in the third, but so did the Trappers, on an error. Piazza had a fifth inning sacrifice fly to tie the game for Pierre. Five players had two hits each for the Trappers, who out-hit Fremont 12-9.
The Trappers have won five of their last seven and are 11-13. They will again host Fremont Monday night at Hyde Stadium at 7:05.
