Last week, the United States Supreme Court upheld a Texas law that requires adults to verify their age in order to access adult-oriented– or pornographic– websites.
Because the Texas law was determined to be constitutional, a new state law putting age verification requirements in place takes effect today (July 1, 2025) in South Dakota.
During this year’s state legislative session, Attorney General Marty Jackley supported House Bill 1053, requiring users to prove they are at least 18 years of age before being allowed to access adult-oriented websites.
