At Tuesday’s (July 8th) regular meeting of the Walworth County Commission, the commissioners approved a resolution to hold meetings once a month beginning in August. Walworth County State’s Attorney Sarah Malsom read the resolution.
Auditor
For the Auditor’s office:
- Commissioner Duane Mohr made a motion to supplement the budget and open a new account for opioid funds. The motion passed.
- An auto-supplement for the City of Mobridge brick grant funding was approved in the amount of $1,100.80.
- The commissioners also approved a budget transfer of $150,000.00 from the general fund to Emergency Management per the 2025 budget.
Treasurer
For the Treasurer’s office the commissioners approved adding Martha Rau to the bank account, and they agreed with Walworth County Treasurer Leah Holder’s proposal to temporarily stop doing new vehicle registrations for non-residents. This will take effect July 15th.
Emergency Management
The commissioners approved a resolution of support for the Emergency Management position to be categorized as Class B retirement.
There will be online training for senior officials on Tuesday, July 15th, at 8am at the Emergency Management office in Mobridge.
Highway
For the Highway Department, the commissioners approved:
- A chip seal bid and cover aggregate from Jensen Rock & Sand;
- The 3-month probation starting wage of $22.83 an hour for Jason Gosh;
- And signing a bridge preservation contract with Anderson Construction for two bridges by Hiddenwood.
New Business
Under New Business the commissioners talked about a wage increase for county employees with a once-a-month paycheck. The board wants feedback from all department heads during the upcoming budget discussion.
A public hearing for jail discussion will be held Wednesday, July 9th, at 1:00 pm in the courtroom at the Walworth County Courthouse in Selby.
The next Walworth County Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22nd.
