FREMONT, NE – A five-run sixth inning turned around a tight game Thursday as the Fremont Moo completed a sweep of the Pierre Trappers 7-4.
A first-inning RBI single by EJ Ranel gave the Trappers a 1-0 lead, and that held up until Fremont’s big sixth inning against starter Michael Cabeza (0-1), who allowed seven runs and seven hits with nine strikeouts in six and two-thirds innings. In that inning, all five runs were unearned as a result of two errors by the Trappers. Cooper McMurray homered in the eighth and Zane Phelps left the park in the ninth.
The Trappers are 14-19, yet still just three and a half games out of first in the Lewis Division. They are home for the weekend, hosting the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs at Hyde Stadium Friday and Saturday nights at 7:05 and Sunday at 2:05.
