Jewel Cave National Monument invites families to Junior Caver Day on Saturday (July 26, 2025) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the monument’s visitor center.
This year marks the 125th anniversary of Jewel Cave’s first recorded discovery. Under the theme “Discover Jewel Cave,” local museums and researchers will offer hands‑on activities that highlight the cave’s geology, history and the broader Black Hills region. A Junior Caver oath ceremony will close the program at approximately 2:15 p.m.
Guided cave tours will run throughout the day. Visitors should reserve tickets in advance at Recreation.gov or arrive early for a limited number of first‑come, first‑served tickets at the kiosk, which opens at 8 a.m.
The National Park Service is hosting Junior Caver Day with support from the Black Hills Parks & Forest Association. Details and updates will continue to be posted at www.nps.gov/jeca, as well as on social media through Facebook at www.facebook.com/JewelCaveNPS/ and Instagram at www.instagram.com/jewelcavenps .
