Shirley Ann Gray Eagle (Mutchler), born on July 14, 1956, at Old Cheyenne Agency, South Dakota.
Shirley’s life was one of care, connection, and devotion to family. In her younger years, she pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), dedicating herself to the wellbeing of others. Her passion for caregiving continued when she lived in Denver, Colorado, where she found fulfillment working in home health care.
Family was at the heart of Shirley’s world. She was the proud mother of six children: Mary Jo Mutchler (Nathan Scott), Memory Cook (Sherry Powers), Melanie Traversie (Sebastian Rosas), Damon Gray Eagle, Dayton Gray Eagle, and Daniel Gray Eagle | (Danielle Steele). Her legacy lives on through her 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. And partner Eugene Clifford.
Mary Jo and Nathan’s children are Talon Boyd and Josie Starr. Memory’s children are Ryan, Ethan, Bradley, and J’Den. Melanie’s children are Angel, Emmett, Eric, David, Darren, Diamond, Gail, Gunner, Ruth, and Enoch. Damon’s children are Tae and Justin. Dayton’s children are Veo, Music, and Thomas. Daniel’s children are Candace, Daniel Jr., Nathaniel, Mya, Mercedes, Micaiah, Cante, Cheyenne, Denali, and Ezekiel.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Josephine and VC Parson; Gary Blue Arm; her sister Mary Scrivener: and her brother Joe Roberts.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures-working crossword puzzles with quiet focus or trying her luck at the casino. She loved to travel and especially cherished time spent with her dog Rip. Above all else, Shirley treasured moments shared with her children and their families. Whether cooking for a gathering or visiting with relatives near and far, she brought warmth to every occasion.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her-as a caregiver by profession and by nature; as a mother whose love spanned generations; as someone who found happiness in both adventure and home.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
