ESTELLINE – A South Dakota high school football team has been hit by COVID-19. Estelline/Hendricks has postponed its first two games of the season after two players tested positive for the virus.
Head coach Jeremy Bachman told KELOLAND TV, “It was coronavirus related as the entire team was exposed. We contacted the department of health and they considered our entire team as close contacts, meaning we need to quarantine for fourteen days.”
The Redhawks cannot resume practice until at least August 31. This Friday’s game with Dell Rapids St. Mary will not be made up. A game scheduled for August 28 with Alcester-Hudson will be made up on September 4, originally scheduled to be a bye week for Estelline/Hendricks.
