PIERRE – A special meeting of the SDHSAA Board of Directors will be held on Monday to consider options for students who cannot compete in fall sports due to local, federal or tribal restrictions.
Concern has come from schools on the Pine Ridge Reservation, who have either suspended or cancelled fall activities due to the reservation’s shelter-in-place order. It prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people. Letters from superintendents Charles Cuny Jr. of Little Wound and Michael Carlow of Pine Ridge ask the SDHSAA to consider amending its bylaws to allow an extra year of eligibility for seniors who cannot participate this fall.
The meeting will convene at 10:00 AM on Monday.
