PIERRE, S.D. – An opening run of 16 consecutive points was enough to propel Sioux Falls Lincoln as they cruised past the Pierre Governors, 71-37, Tuesday night at the Riggs High Gym. Sam Ericsson and Sam DeGroot each scored 17 points to lead the Patriots, who showed the hometown crowd why they are the consensus top-ranked team in Class AA. Logan Witte scored ten for the Govs, mostly in the fourth period in which Pierre scored 18 of their overall 37 points. Lincoln will try to keep rolling this weekend as they host Rapid City Central and Stevens on Friday and Saturday. The Governors fell to 2-4 with the loss and will travel to Sioux Falls Washington on Saturday afternoon. Coverage of that game, as well as for the Governor girls’ next game Thursday night as they host Harrisburg, will be available on RIVER 92-7 FM and https://drgnews.com/river.
