PIERRE, S.D. – An impressive run of senior girls at Riggs High School in Pierre who have signed letters of intent to compete in collegiate sports continued Wednesday, as Emily Kringel made her commitment official. Kringel signed to become a member of the William Smith College women’s bowling team in Geneva, New York, during a small ceremony at the Lariat Lanes in Pierre. Kringel is in her 12th year of youth league bowling and is currently carrying a 207 average in her Saturday afternoon Majors League, but she has gained an abundance of valuable experience bowling in large tournaments throughout the country for the past few years. She also rolled her first sanctioned perfect 300 game back in November. Kringel says she was drawn to the Division III school because Geneva, which is near Rochester, NY, reminded her of Pierre, and the team is coached by card-carrying members of the Professional Bowling Association, who can certainly provide the tutelage she will need, as she herself hopes to bowl professionally in the coming years. Kringel’s signing is the seventh by a Riggs High senior female athlete this school year. Other signings for the Class of 2026 include:
- McKenzi Flottmeyer – softball – Jamestown
- Charlotte Hull – swimming – Univ. of Mary
- Jasmine Jost – soccer – Northern State
- Emery Larson – track/cross country – SDSU
- Gwen Richter – track/cross country – Northern State
- Charlee Williams-Smith – track – Montana State
