It is not often you see a high school senior celebrated for passsing the 1,000-point mark in their career. It is an incredible accomplishment and one that does not come frequently. The game will stop, a banner will come out and pictures will be taken with the player to celebrate the achievement. But, once in a blue moon you get a player like Lyman senior Mak Scott who gets into 2,000-point territory. When you start sniffing 2,000, you are in rarified air.
Scott did just that in their 69-14 win in the 6B region bracket last night to advance. Scott, again, had a huge hand in the sizeable victory. Scott was one of two Raiders to lead their team in scoring with 22 points. Naturally, it was the other Scott (Jordyn) to have the other 22 point performance. With the victory, Lyman picked up their 19th win on the season and made yet another statement on why they are heavily favored to make a run at the title.
Mak Scott was celebrated by her teammates and Raider nation after the game with a table full of memories from Scott’s continuing career, baloons spelling out ‘2,000’, a few cupcakes and her CHS River Plains Player of the Game shirt as pictured above.
Scott and the Raiders advance to the second round tomorrow night to face off with the #5-seed, 10-11 Burke. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM CT at the Corn Palace.
