The mayor of Mobridge and the deputy finance officer for Herreid have been elected to serve as the District 7 chair and vice-chair for the South Dakota Municipal League.
Gene Cox, Mayor of Mobridge, was elected Chair and Alan Allbee, Deputy Finance Officer of Herreid, was elected Vice Chair, during a meeting this week (March 16, 2026) in Herreid. As the district chair, Cox will represent the district on the SDML Board of Directors.
Additionally, Municipal League Executive Director Sara Rankin recapped the outcome of the 2026 Legislative Session and the impact new laws will have on South Dakota towns.
In other business, those attending voted to hold the 2027 District 7 Meeting in Java.
