The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation is coordinating a fundraising campaign to support ranchers in Nebraska impacted by recent wildfires.
In partnership with the Kingsbury County Cattlemen’s Association, the Foundation will match community donations up to a total of $10,000 to help cover the cost of fuel needed to transport critically needed hay from across South Dakota to Nebraska. The hay will help ranchers where grazing has been severely limited or destroyed, feed their cattle and provide temporary safe spaces for animals displaced by the fires.
Every dollar donated goes directly toward supporting Nebraska ranchers during this emergency. Funds raised beyond the cost of fuel will be donated directly to wildfire relief efforts in Nebraska, helping ranchers purchase fencing supplies and address other urgent needs caused by the fires.
Ryan Eichler, President of the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation, says wildfires don’t respect state lines, and when our neighbors are in crisis, the cattle industry steps up. He says this initiative helps ensure ranchers in Nebraska have the resources they need to care for their livestock and begin recovering from this disaster.
