FORT PIERRE – Stanley County overcame a tough Miller/Highmore-Harrold defense and 10 penalties Friday to rally for a 22-20 win at Ole Williamson Field. Lathan Prince threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Cook with 5:26 left in the fourth quarter to tie the game, then Evan Nordstrom gave the Buffaloes (3-2) their first lead of the game with a two-point conversion run.
Nordstrom rushed for 61 yards and a touchdown. Cook also scored on the return of a Miller/Highmore-Harrold fumble on a bad punt snap.
For the Rustlers (0-4), Tate Hoffman had a touchdown run and caught a touchdown pass from Hunter Van Niewenhuyse. Hoffman rushed for 72 yards, had 30 yards receiving, 84 yards on kickoff returns and 39 yards on punt returns for 225 all-purpose yards. Jaden Anderberg had a rushing touchdown.
Stanley County’s scheduled game Friday night at Wagner has been cancelled due to Stanley County staff members being quarantined because of exposure to COVID-19. All Stanley County activities have been cancelled through the end of September. Now, the next game for Buffaloes Football will be on Friday, October 2 against Mt.
