A 46 year old woman from Sioux Falls died Thursday (Aug. 6, 2026) from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash two miles south of Sturgis.
Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the woman was driving a 2013 Suzuki Gladius 650 eastbound on U.S. Highway 14A. At the same time, a 77 year old man from Wrentham, Massachusetts, was driving a 2013 Victory Jackpot westbound and failed to negotiate a curve. He crossed into the eastbound land and struck the Suzuki. The driver of the Suzuki sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Victory was transported to a Sturgis hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.
The eastbound lanes were closed for approximately one hour.
The investigation is ongoing.
