The South Dakota Ag Foundation is now accepting applications for its annual grant programs: Building Rural Communities Grant and Ag Innovators Youth Education Grant.
The Building Rural Communities Grant and Ag Innovators Youth Education Grant are designed to support ongoing agriculture-related community and safety projects along with innovative ideas in youth agricultural education. Building Rural Communities Grants funded in 2020 include assembling winter vehicle safety kits for Doland School vehicles and building compost bins at the community garden in Yankton. Ag Innovators Youth Education Grants funded in 2020 include improving trails, adding benches, outdoor classroom tools, and other items at the Native Prairie Garden/Pazour Nature Area in Kimball and putting on farm safety training, youth leadership training, and hands-on STEM programming for the GOLD Program in Fort Pierre.
“We are excited to offer these two grants again this year,” says Executive Director, Chris Maxwell. “Supporting projects that elevate youth ag education and promote future ag leaders while also raising up rural communities are core values of the SD Ag Foundation. We’re proud to support so many important and creative ideas.”
Schools and community organizations across the state are encouraged to submit grant funding applications. Grant program overviews and applications are available online at sdagfoundation.org. Applications must be submitted or postmarked no later than November 20, 2020. Grant awardees will be announced at the end of December.
