PIERRE – Pierre Governor Volleyball won for the first time since the first week of September, defeating Spearfish Saturday at the Riggs High gym 25-18, 25-13, 25-16 to stop a seven-match losing streak.
The Governors (4-7) had 30 kills, led by Reagan Wiebe with 11 and Ayvrie Kaiser with eight. Pierre also had nine aces, with Wiebe serving four.
Pierre head coach Kacy Kienholz said that she was happy that her team broke the losing streak.
Kienholz said that Spearfish presented a challenge.
Kienholz said that the Governors served well and attacked quite well, especially one player.
Kienholz feels that Pierre can still improve its defense, but that it was better against Spearfish.
Kienholz credited Spearfish for playing hard, even as the Governors continued to lead the match.
Kienholz discussed where the Governors can still improve.
Kienholz said that Pierre’s offense can still be tuned up.
