Three candidates are on the Nov. 3 ballot for two open positions on the Hughes County Commission.
Candidates are Tom Rounds, Vicky Wilkey and Randy Brown.
During a candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters Pierre and Dakota Radio Group, the candidates agreed lack of revenue, roads and bridges and upgrades needing to be done in the courthouse in Pierre are three major issues for Hughes County right now.
Rounds says quite a bit of work needs to be done to the courthouse.
Wilkey says over half of the county’s budget is spent on law enforcement and the court system.
Brown says if elected, he hopes to help maximize how Hughes County tax dollars are spent.
The two election winners will be sworn in at the first Hughes County Commission meeting in January.
