At Thursday’s meeting of the Walworth County Commision, the commissioners approved motions to sign the jail class action lawsuit settlement agreement and to pay the $91,000 attorneys fee out of the commissioners’ services and fees budget. Payment is to be made by November 12th.
A motion was approved to have Auditor Rebecca Krein sign the Wellmark Health insurance renewal.
A motion to eliminate the jail administrator position was approved, with Justin Jungwirth taking on the deputy sheriff position.
According to Commissioner Kevin Holgard, Lyle Perman had asked to be replaced on the North Central Regional Jail board with Marion Schlomer. This was approved. Holgard also said the next jail board meeting is scheduled for November 12th.
Sheriff Josh Boll informed the board that he will be needing to purchase newer vehicles with all the transporting, as the mileage is getting high on the current vehicles.
There was discussion on transportation issues with Mobridge and the highway patrol, and also where to have temporary holding areas for those in custody, but no decisions were made.
Highway Superintendent Gary Byre got approvals on signing a striping agreement with the Department of Transportation; a cost proposal from KLJ Engineering for a survey of flooded area in the county; and also a utility easement with the Java Fire District to permanently place a sewer line connection to the Java sewer system in the county right of way.
