Eight Pierre Governors, tied for the most from any school in the conference, were named to the 2020 All-ESD football teams.
Representing Pierre are quarterback Lincoln Kienholz, running back Maguire Raske, tight end Regan Bollweg, offensive lineman Gunnar Gehring, defensive linemen Preston Taylor and Jayce Beastrom and linebackers Cord Ellis and Collin Brueggeman.
Kienholz, a sophomore, has completed 56 percent of his passes in his first season as the Governors’ starter, throwing for 2,012 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also has rushed for 657 yards and three touchdowns.
Raske, a senior, has rushed for 1,560 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also has four receiving touchdowns and one on a kickoff return for a total of 30, one short of the school record set in 2005 by Quincy Christie. Raske leads Pierre in receptions with 36 for 501 yards. He has rushed for 3,570 yards and 56 touchdowns in his four seasons as a Governor.
Bollweg has seven touchdowns and 610 yards receiving in his senior season. He has 18 touchdown receptions in two seasons as a starter.
Gehring, another senior, has been one of the stalwarts of an offensive line that has allowed Pierre to pile up 237 yards rushing and 207 passing per game.
Taylor, a senior, has 38 tackles, including 11 for losses, and two fumble recoveries.
Beastrom, a senior, leads the Governors with six and a half sacks. He has 32 tackles, 10 for losses, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
Ellis, a senior, has four interceptions to lead Pierre. He also has 53 tackles, four for losses, and a blocked kick.
Brueggeman, a senior, has 57 tackles, third on the team, 10 for losses, three sacks and a forced fumble.
Brookings also had eight representatives on the All-ESD teams. Huron and Brandon Valley had seven each.
