A charge is pending against a 34-year-old man from Bismarck, ND, after the semi he was driving became the latest vehicle to hit the train bridge along a main route of travel in Pierre.
A spokesman for the South Dakota Highway Patrol says Justin Beutler was driving a 2000 Kenworth semi pulling a cattle pot around 10:45 this (Thurs.) morning when he turned off the truck route to head north on South Pierre Street. Despite the height limit sign and flashing lights, Beutler continued north and the trailer became wedged underneath the train viaduct.
Neither Beutler nor the 49 year old male passenger in the semi were injured. The cattle pot was empty when it hit the bridge. Traffic was disrupted for a little over an hour.
